Bunnies and vaccuum cleaners

Question
I'm going to bring my rabbits indoors to live, I'm interested to know does the noise of the hoover/vacuum cleaner bother them?

Answer
Dear Layla,

I've known some rabbits to be terrified of a vacuum cleaner, and others to attack it!  Some actually seemed to like the noise, and would come around and follow it.  So it depends on your bunnies' personalities.  You'll have to wait and see.

If anyone is terrified of the vacuum, it's best to put that bun in a quiet room while you vacuum elsewhere, and not force the bun to endure the noise and scare.

We finally invested in one of those fantastic "in the wall" systems with the vacuum under the house or in the garage. It's the best thing we ever did:  no noise, and the dust and dirt all go OUTSIDE, rather than being kicked back inside through the vacuum bag.  Something to consider, if you can manage it.  (We saved a lot by installing it ourselves.)

Hope this helps!  For more tips on how to make your bunnies' indoor life happy and healthy, please see:
