Question
During a nail clipping session with my rabbit, he was startled and kicked.  When this happened one of his toenail ripped right off!  There was excessive bleeding, but stopped within a couple minutes.  Looking at his toe now, there is no nail left.  Should I be concerned?  His running/hopping around normally.
Thanks

Answer
Honestly, it's not much to worry about :-)

These type of wounds bleed a LOT and that's totally normal. It really isn't an uncommon injury and 99% of the time the wound will heal without any need for medical intervention. Unless it continues to bleed, becomes infected, or causes him prolonged discomfort, I really wouldn't worry about it.

Just keep an eye on the toe and give him a few extra treats. Hope that helps!
