Cold climate

Question
I have a 7 yr old Netherland dwarf who has always lived inside my house. But
recently we had to move her outside.  The temperature has dropped significantly
(about 40 degrees at night) these past few weeks. I just want to make sure that
he will be able to adapt to the cold climate.  I've read that rabbits are made to
survive in the cold, but I still want to be sure.  Please advise.  Thanks!

Answer
Dear Melisa,

As long as she has a warm refuge (a secure, draft-free hiding box with plenty of warm bedding (washed regularly!) and soft, clean straw or hay, she can withstand temperatures down to about 40 Farenheit.  But colder than that, and she could come back inside.

I hope you can find a way to bring her back inside.  Once she's been an indoor bunny, it is cruel to relegate her to a lonely life outside, no longer able to interact with the family.  If the problem is litterbox training, smell, allergies, or almost anything--I can help you solve that problem so she can come back inside where she belongs, with the family she loves.

I hope to hear back from you so I can help you and your bunny be together again.

Sincerely,

Dana
