QuestionHi,
I have asked you many questions before and have found your advice to be first class.
My little girl bunny is due in for her spay op in 3 weeks. my question is how do i look after her when i get her back? will she need someone to be there 24/7 and should she be totally removed from my male rabbit (they dont live in the same cage as her hormones are too much for poor dave to handle, but in cages next to each other as they are bonded and i didnt want to break their bond my moving them to different rooms.) so they cant see each other?
My boy has been neutered and when he was recovering he had to get a cone collar cos he wouldnt leave his stitches alone - would this happen for Ellie too? i have bought Vet-Wrap but i dont know how effective it is and/or if your even sposed to use it!
Thanks for you help,
Gemma
AnswerDear Gemma,
Thank you for your kind words. I'll do my best to help.
First, be sure you have an experienced rabbit to do this surgery, so your bunny won't *need* an E-collar. Ask about subcuticular sutures, which are out of sight and out of the bunny's reach. All our experienced rabbit vets use this technique, and the bunnies do not worry at their incision.
Keep her close to her mate, especially during recovery, so they don't "unbond", and can have each other for moral support. It's important that they *not* be completely separated after the surgery!
You can find an experienced rabbit vet here:

And read more about pre- and post-operative care here:

Hope that helps!
