Pregnant or not??

Question
About 4 weeks ago recently purchased a young female rabbit from a pet store to be a companion for my 2 year old DESEXED male. She has started pulling her out and I think she is nesting to have babies. As my male rabbit is desexed is it possible she was pregnant when I purchased her? She would have only been about 10-12 weeks when she got pregnant, is that possible for a rabbit to get pregnant at that age? Could there be another reason for her pulling her hair out. She is pulling it out and putting it in her kitty litter tray.
Thanks

Answer
Yes, it's very possible that she is pregnant. Pet stores all too often keep rabbits together regardless of gender and with no care toward unwanted babies. I'd get her to a vet to be sure. The other possibility is that she is having a 'false pregnancy' and mimicing all of the symptoms without actually giving birth. I think in your case that would be a better scenario ;-)

And if she is pregnant, you may be able to have her spayed. It's a tricky ethical spot to be in, because the spay would terminate her unborn kits, and I can't tell you what is best for you and your situation. Otherwise, you'd better start reading up on the care and keeping of baby bunnies.
