pink pee

Question
my dwarf bunny is about 7 months and peed pink twice. is she
going through menses or could she have eaten (red apple skin) Should I be concerned?

Answer
Dear Roni,

Rabbit urine can vary tremendously in color depending on what the rabbit has been eating.  I've not known apple peel to turn urine red, but it could have been something else.

If you are concerned that this might be blood, please get her to a good rabbit vet for a full checkup:

At her age, she's almost old enough for a spay.  And since unspayed, unbred female rabbits have a very high risk of uterine cancer, this is an important thing to do for her.

Hope this helps.
