Ingesting fur

Question
My Netherland Dwarf rabbit will groom my boyfriend's Rex rabbit and she ingests the fur. I'm worried that she's going to have digestion problems because of a buildup of fur in her stomach. What signs should I look for to know if there's a problem? She seems to be acting normally, is eating and does have regular bowel movements.

Answer
Well, it sounds as though you're keeping a good eye on her. Signs of a problem would be lack of appetite, 'stringy' poops (held together with fur) and/or small, hard poops, listlessness, etc.

In the meantime, could you try redirecting her toward more appropriate things to chew on? Willow baskets, apple branches, grass mats, etc. She may just need an outlet for her chewing and be using your boyfriend's bunny to fulfill that need.

Good luck!
