Question
My rabbit got out of his cage and hurt his foot. I am also worried because he ate mums that my mom had on the floor in the basement. Is there a major problem. I am so worried. I feel sick to my stomach.

Answer
Dear Elisabeth,

I'm glad you love your bunny so much. :)  But don't despair.

If your bunny is putting any weight on the foot at all, it is not as likely to be broken.  It may just be a soft tissue injury that will resolve on its own. But if he is NOT putting any weight on it, or if it doesn't improve in a day or two, then he should be seen by a good rabbit vet who can diagnose and treat appropriately, and possibly provide pain medication:

Chrysanthemums are not overtly toxic, though they do contain pyrethrins that are not great to eat in large quantities.  My rabbits have nibbled many a mum without harm.  But it's best to keep the bunny away from the mums, so he doesn't eat too much.

No major problems that can't be fixed with a trip to the vet.

I hope all will be well!
