Question
I recently noticed a small bald patch on the bottom of the ear of my holland lop rabbit about 2cm by 1cm. On the inside of her ear I notice one small dot of gary crust on the edge. I researched ear mites, but I don't think the symptom descriptions fit the behavior and appearance of my rabbit. Should I take her to a vet or is nothing wrong?

Answer
If it were my rabbit, I would probably just keep an eye on it. It could be that her ear is rubbing up against something that is causing balding, or it could be a pest like mites or a fungus like ringworm. Certainly if it gets bigger, becomes inflamed, or appears to be causing itching and discomfort, get her to the vet.

Hope that helps!
