Wet Tail

Question
My rabbit's tail has been wet for the last week, we can't dry it, we tried giving it a bath, then blow drying it, we put it in a cage at night, but let it run free in the closed off backyard during the day, it's tail stays wet in the cage when theres no water except from the bottle, and the food we give it (bock choi, pellets, watermelon, carrots) we like to give it a big choice of what to eat, but it has lost ALLOT of weight fast, it is less then half its old weight, and it doesn't run around the yard anymore, sits in one spot with its wet tail, when it does run, looks like it has trouble running, it is doing poo normally, haven't seen it urinate often, what should we do to help it?

Answer
Dear Sam,

With the very serious signs of illness you describe in this rabbit, I cannot help but wonder why on earth you have not taken him to the vet for a complete checkup and treatment.  Please find a good vet here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

And also read:

A constantly dripping bottom (urine or feces) is a sign of severe illness, and could be due to an intestinal problem:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/poop.html

or a urinary tract problem:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/urinary.html

You haven't given me enough information or detail to know which this might be, but in any case if the bunny is losing weight, is having trouble moving around, and is showing signs of illness this obvious, you MUST get him to a good rabbit vet immediately if you wish to save his life.

Please do so ASAP, and waste no more time, or your bunny could die.

I hope this helps.
