litter training bunnies

Question
Hiya,
I currently have two indoor bunnies, they live together in the same cage. However, because there is two, it means te cage needs cleaning out alot. Because of this, i have decided that i would like to try and litter train them. I have bought one litter tray and put it in their cage. I have been researching on the interenet about how to train them, however i have noticed that some say the rabbits need to smell their scent in the litter tray, and others say that rabbits will not use the litter tray if it is dirty. Which one is correct?
At the moment i have put paper at the bottom, covered in sawdust with some poops ontop. I would be very grateful if you could advise me on the best and quickest way to train them.

Thankyou

Sam

Answer
Dear Sam,

You can read an article I wrote about litter training here:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/training.html

It seems to work best if the box smells of rabbit (self or not!), so a few droppings in the box will help.

You can also read more about everything Rabbit here:

The "Rabbits 101" link at the top of the page should be expecially helpful.

Good luck!
