Can you help me

Question
Hi, my question pertains to a guinea pig not a rabbit, might you be able to help me? I rescued abandoned in a neighbors garage 2 guinea pigs. I don't have the money to take them to a vet as they charge an exotic fee just for an appointment and I am totally broke and without any extra income but I couldn't leave them there to die since know one else was willing to take them, I had to.  I figured I would find a home for them as I can not keep them. Unfortunately 1 pig has a growth or tumor on the side of her neck. It is about the size of a small plum and seems soft, she seems to act as normally as the other pig and doesn't appear to be in pain. I have been unable to adopt the pigs out because I have no information to offer in reference to the pigs condition and my local shelters are full and I am told the pig would likely be put down if not healthy enough for an adoption, due to the overcrowding of the shelters. Please send me an e-mail link so I may send you some pic's of the growth as All Experts does not give me the option of sending it as an attachment through this method if you think you can help, Thank you for any information, Laura

Answer
Dear Laura,

Thank you for your kindness in helping the little guinea pigs.  You can send a picture to dana@miami.edu but that won't help solve the problem.  What everyone told you is, unfortunately, true.  Unless the GP can be brought back to health, you're not likely to be able to find a safe home for them.  And they should not be separated if they are bonded.

Since I'm much more of a rabbit expert than a GP expert, I think the best I can do is refer you to the biggest GP rescue group.  You can contact them and see if they have any suggestions about what to do to help these little guys.

I hope this helps.  Good luck with the piggies, and thank you for being their saving angel.
