Question
i have a 8 week old bunny which seems to have head tilt... i am unable to get to a vet due to circumstance and distance... i read up on the disease over and over and over on alot of sites... i have a 3 year old daughter which has been pretty rough with the bunny so im pretty sure it was caused by head trauma... i dont think she has severe head tilt... tonight i got her out and help her stand to eat her food and drink her water... she has a VERY good appetite... after she eat and built up some energy she was fine... the same as normal for about 10 - 15 mins... i think shes going to be ok... and since shes my first bunny rabbit im a bit nervous... do you think shell be ok without seeing a vet? and what can i do to help her?

Answer
Well, if you could get to a vet, a vet may be able to give your rabbit some medicine that could help it recover quicker from the trauma.  Going to a vet is what I would recommended, but understand if your situation prevents it from happening.

But regardless if you see a vet, you will need to continue giving supportive care like you are doing.

It's very good that she has a good appetite.  Hopefully she keeps it up along with normal water intake.

During this recovery time, you'll want to make sure she is kept in a safe, secure, quiet spot where she can rest.

You may have to help your bunny out with some things:

If she can't get to rear properly to eat her cecotropes, you may have to feed them to her.  If you're not familiar with what cecotropes look like, this site has a picture: http://www.threelittleladiesrabbitry.com/cecotropes.php
rabbits get their nutrition from ingesting these, so it's important if you see them to present them to her to eat

Maybe her condition isn't this bad, but you may have to watch the back end for signs of urine soaking her fur or poop sticking to her.  If her rear gets dirty, the skin can get irritated pretty quickly.  If that does become a problem, these sites have links on how to keep your bunny clean and dry back there:

Also, if her head is tilting downward, the eye facing down will dry out.  There is some stuff you can put in the eye to help with that, but you can only get it from a vet in my experience.

I hope this helps and that your bunny recovers
