Rabbits back leg.

Question
I bought a lop eared close to two years ago and she has recently hurt her back left foot. I read in my book that we should see a vet ASAP, but my dad said give it time and see if it gets better. Sure enough her leg improved, but after at least 1 1/2 months she still does not put her full weight on it when walking, but will use it to scratch her face, and land on after jumping/running. By gently pressing on her foot we now know that her pain is on the top of her foot.
Any input you could give me would be wonderful. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Conner,

my advice is get her to a good rabbit vet.  Not all vets are good rabbit vets.  Good rabbit vets have more experience with rabbits and can give her better diagnoses and proper care faster, and can save you money by doing so.  In the future don't put off going to the vet for a leg injury, these guys can get infections in the bone and it may not heal right without surgery.  Usually going to the vet right away also keeps your costs down because time hasn't passed and complications have not set in along with the original injury.  They can also prescribe pain meds so that your pet isn;t in pain.
