QuestionMy rabbit's half asleep and his body's appearing to be involuntarily twitching is this normal (kindof like a human body does before or during sleep)? Also, my rabbit is of medium size and every once in awhile I'll see a poop pellet stuck to his fur near his bottom, is this normal and is there something I'm supposed to do other than get it off?
AnswerHi Ketura,
rabbits that are sleeping often have small twitches when they sleep, it is normal and nothing to worry about. Often their heads go back, move around and sometimes they wake themselves up. This isn't a seizure, you'd know the difference.
The cecal pellet stuck to his bottom fur is basically one he missed eating and it got stuck to him. Generally his regular extensive grooming will catch this. Just make sure it's gone in a day, otherwise if you can, you can just pull it off him. You'll want to make sure his bottom is clean in the summertime when insects are more drawn to that kind of thing. You don't want flies anywhere near your rabbit.
