Questionhi. I just want to ask about the best daily food for my bunny... his 2 mons old.. what are the best green food for him?
AnswerHi,
he is very young.
Hay: all the time, timothy hay, orchard grass hay, alfalfa hay.
Pellets: only food pellets without extra crap in them - no nuts, seeds, corn - just pellets. Oxbow is an excellent brand with good amounts of minerals. As he is young you can give both alfalfa and timothy food pellets. Give 1/4 to 1/2 cup per day (total).
No greens, no fruits, no veggies. Nothing high carb/high sugar. His gi tract is not set up yet to deal with this right and you can potentially cause a condition that can kill him.
For treats, give a 1/4 chunk of a hay cube (from a pet supply store). You can also give him wicker chew balls, wicker tents, etc, from a pet supply store and he will probably enjoy eating this.
I recommend picking up the books I mention in my profile info, and spending time on the House Rabbit Society web site. www.rabbit.org
They have excellent articles on nutrition. Also on how to find a good rabbit vet where you live (not all vets are good rabbit vets).
