if you can let mom out to exercise, you can take a quick look at them. Just make sure they are all together and alive. You can remove any that are dead (hopefully none) as they are a health hazard to the rest. They should all be snugged together for warmth.
I wouldn't really handle them more than just to look that they all appear okay. In about 10-14 days their eyes will open and they will start moving around. At about the two week mark you can start to interact with them more.
