cage recommendation & wild rabbit question

Question
Hi,
We've had a house bun for about 2 years (he was an outside rabbit that the neighbors "set free") but his cage is pretty small (about 2 1/2' x 2' with a wire floor).  I got him a much larger cage (about 3' x 4' x 5' tall with a solid floor and different levels) a few weeks ago and he thumped his litter box the whole night.  I assumed he hated it and put him back in his old cage.  Can you recommend a decent cage?  How big should it be and how tall?  Should I try the large cage again and see if he adjusts to it?  I'm not sure if I should have given it another day or two before I moved him back into the smaller cage.

Also a quick wild rabbit question, in case you have any insight.  We found a nest with 8 closed-eyed but furry babies in our garden (conveniently close to the strawberries and the lettuce!).  Two days after we found it, the bunnies were gone.  What do you think the chances are that the mother moved the babies?  Do they move their nests?  We have dogs, bears, foxes, raccoons and all sorts of wildlife around our house but I like to think that the mother rabbit moved the babies.  Am I deluding myself? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hello Louise !
Well  is off I hope your rabbit is doing Ok.
I think you should try the new cage again your rabbit is just acting normal in  a strange new home. its bigger and that good but he was not used to it so he thumped  it will take him a few days to adjust  he may still thump aroung too this is caused but excitement, uncertinty, or just cause he is looking around for a friend.
he should get used to it within a week.
As far as the wild rabbits go, I do not think they were moved by the mother rabbits unlike dogs and cats do not pick up their babies. so I fear that something eles got them, its sad and hard to think,  but like you , a preditor foung them.
Good luck with your rabbit.
