Mounting Behavior/In love with a toy?

22 10:29:42

Question
I have a three year old male dwarf hotot. He is not neutered but he does not exhibit an aggressive or mounting behaviors towards me or anyone else. That said, he is very fond of an old white tube sock I stuffed and gave to him to play with. He will mount it, roll it around, snuggle with it, and even nudge it out of his cage when he gets sick of it. I'm not interested in getting him neutered at this point due both to small size and because he only exhibits mounting behavior with his toys. My question: is the behavior with his toys a problem? Should I take his toy away?

Answer
Hi,

given the statements you have made, I would not take away his toys.  He's getting his frustration out that way.  Neutering would probably take care of it.

The key, in the future, is to go to a good rabbit vet, one who has a very high success rate with rabbits and procedures (> 99%).  You should have one anyway in case of emergency.  Start here to look one up near you:

and find a House Rabbit Society recommended vet around your area.

Anytime before age six is generally okay if he's in otherwise good health.
