Rabbits - chewing

Question
Hiya, when rabbits chew plastic/plasticy substances like eg. floor coverings and manage to chew chunks off, what happens?  Do they end up coming out the other end, or do they stay inside the rabbits stomach and cause a blockage?  I'm really worried as I put plastic floor tiles down on my rabbits cage floor to make it easier to clean and he has now managed to chew bits of it off - what will happen?  Should I remove it from the cage right now?  Quite worried, as this isn't the first time he's done this.  Really appreciate your advice, thanks.

Answer
Hi Davina,
I would remove them right now. Anything other then food that a rabbit ingest can cause a blockage. Here is what you do give all the hay it will eat to help push things through. Keep a eye on him make sure he is going poo. If he is then he should be fine. But not every time they consume something it causes a blockage. Mine love to eat there plastic urine guards and are fine but other chew on chew sticks and can get a blockage. Really depends on the bunny. If you need anymore help feel free to ask.
