My rabbits teeth

Question
I think my rabbit may have over grown teeth as when she sits still, not eating or drinking, when she moves her jaw she makes a grinding noise. I was concerned about  it and when I was holding her I noticed she was incredibley skinny and I could easily feel her ribs. I have had her for about 3-4 years and she has been kept in a hutch in a shed but the door is kept open on days were it doesnt rain, if that helps.
im just concerned about my rabbit and if you could tell me whats wrong with her, even if its incredibley bad news, I would feel better for knowing rather than be completley out of the blue.
Thankyou

Answer
annon,

rabbits teeth grow and grow and needs to be checked twice yearly for problems. Your rabbits teeth must be growning wrongly and digging into her gums, she must be in loads of pain which explains the not eating of drinking, rabbit need to eat and drink just like every living thing, if not she will die.you have to take her to the vets ASAP if not there will be a risk of developing an abcess and may have to be put to sleep.

hope this helps
good luck at the vets
