Mini Lopp

Question
I have a mini lopp that is 3 years old. Recently he has had lots of abcesses that we have cleared up. I recently had a friend at my house that has 2 kids. Our bunny enjoyed being around the kids. I took him to the vet again last week for another abcess. The vet gave me a new antibiotic and some probiotics to give to him. Ever since we went to the vet he hasn't been eating anything and he is just laying around. He has lost some weight. I have tried to give him just about anything I can think of that he might like to eat, but no luck. His abcess has cleared up and he seems to be doing better in that way. He is an indoor rabbit with a lot of room to jump and play. Is there anything I can do?

Answer
Not eating can be due to trauma (such as vet visits, or surgery, or I am sure having an abscess dealt with)  There are a few things you can do to try to get him to eat (the biggest issue is making sure he is staying hydrated)

The thing that worries me is the amount of abscesses he has been having, they are usually due to an injury getting infected and then the skin closing off to keep the infection from spreading, which means that he has been having alot of injuries lately.  This is something that needs to be checked out, if he is an indoor rabbit, then their might be something that he is getting into that is causing him injury, keep in mind a rabbit's skin is very thin so can puncture quite easily.

I would keep an eye on him and if this goes on to much longer or if you notice him loosing more weight then take him back to the vet, as they will be able to administer and IV to keep him hydrated and get some calories in him.

Good Luck
