Rabbit diarrhea?
Hi my rabbit had diarrhea a couple of days ago. She is fine now but I was wondering if I should go the the vet or give the vet a call anyway to make sure that whatever caused the diarrhea is not there anymore. It is really nessecary to go to the vet even though she is perfectly fine now? She is a holland lop and is 11 weeks old. I was feeding her a leaf of parsly a day so that might have caused it. But I did not feed her parsly the day she got diarrhea, do you still think it could have been the parsly that caused it? She is fine now and I have stopped feeding her parsly

The fresh greens in the diet can cause a bit of diarrhea, especially at that age. Most breeders suggest not feeding  your rabbits greens or veggies until about 3-4 months old and then only once or twice a week.  Until they have adjusted to the fresh food.  Feeding her a leaf of parsley a day could cause diarrhea, I would almost put money on it since she has since gotten over it.  What I would do if I were you, is stop with the fresh foods for about 2 weeks, or so then start out with a fresh food once a week for about 3wks then move up to 2 a week etc. I would not however be feeding her fresh  more than about 3-4 times a week, while fresh food is good for rabbits and needs to be part of the diet, it does need to be limited because they can get diarrhea so easily and diarrhea can in some cases be fatal.

I think you have done the right thing in stopping the parsley for now, and I think you will be able to feed it to her again, you will just have to build her system up to it.
