my two girl rabbits are humping each other and one looks really scared and it shakes. I want them to breed later on and when i pull the top one off or when it hops off it bites the back of the bottom one and takes heaps Of fur with it please help i am really worried

Answer
Hi,

you need to put them in separate cages right now to prevent serious fighting injuries or death.  Please do so right away.

I strongly recommend not breeding them, and I always advise against novices breeding pet store quality animals.  You don't know all the potential dangers of breeding and you are not prepared for them.  And you certainly probably won't want to pay a vet if serious injuries occur, which they often do, costing you hundreds of dollars.  And then will you be diligent and spend weeks nursing the rabbits back to health?Besides, there is a huge glut of pet store rabbits, there is no high pressure demand for them.  There is so little demand for them, that tends of thousands of perfectly healthy pet rabbits are put down by shelters each year because people got tired of the rabbit they bought.

Don't breed them.  Get them both spayed by a good rabbit vet, and enjoy them as indoor house rabbits.  Focus on giving these two an excellent, loved life.

If you don't have a good rabbit vet, go to:

and find a House Rabbit Society recommended vet near you.
