Question
I have a loppy eared bunny and I have had him since April 2008 and I think he was about 10 weeks old when I got him.  Anyway I have found three pieces of his teeth laying around and I'm not sure why.  Are rabbits supposed to lose their baby teeth?  He had really long ones and an under bite when I looked at his teeth one of them was only broke half way.

Answer
Dear April,

It sounds as if your bunny has an incisor malocclusion, or misalignment of the front teeth. This is not uncommon in lops, and will be a lifelong concern unless you opt to have the incisors removed when the bunny is old enough.

In the meantime, you need to get him to a good rabbit vet:

to have the teeth trimmed so they won't break and harm him.  The molars should also be examined, as these can develop painful spurs when the other teeth also are not aligned correctly.  Please read:

for a full explanation of what you're facing, and what the long-term treatment options are.

Hope this helps.
