QuestionA few week ago i found a small hard patch of white stuff that looked like dandruff but this went away, however there is now a lot more of it, so today i have bought some stuff from my local pet store that they have said will help this, so i am putting this on her tomorrow as i think she has fur mites. She is only 1 1/2 years old and yesterday when i went to feed her she didn't appear to have eaten any of her food and didn't seem to have when i fed her today, yet usually she eats everything. Could the mites be causing her to not want to eat? or would it be something different?
Please help
Thank you for your time
AnswerDear Emily,
Petstore remedies for mites are not only almost always useless, but sometimes harmful. Find a good rabbit vet here:
www.rabbit.org/vets
who can prescribe some Stronghold (selamectin) for your bunny. This will take care of the mites. But it's also important to have a checkup to see why she is not eating. This may or may not have anything to do with the mites, but whenever a rabbit isn't eating, it should be considered very serious and necessitating an immediate trip to the vet. Please read:
www.bio.miami.edu/hare/sickbun.html
for instructions to tell how sick she is, and what to do until you can get her to the vet. Also see:

Don't delay in getting her to a good rabbit vet if she is refusing to eat.
