Broken or injured leg?

22 10:06:28

Question
Hi Mr. Meyer,
I have a little rabbit. (I am with her only for 10 ten days.) I think she is about 2 months. Yesterday she was on a table and she fell off it. She screamed when she was on the floor. Shortly, she has injured or broken her hind leg.

She can walk on it slowly, she can jump a little, but the hind legs don't seem healthy to me. (she tries not to use it very much) I couldn't understand if the leg(s) is/are broken or not.

She eats and drinks properly. I put her in a box to prevent her from walking too much.

I need to know 'how to understand the leg's condition?' I am deeply sorry right now...

(sorry for grammatical mistakes,
best wishes from Turkey..)

Answer
Hi,

the leg is injured.  I know you are in turkey, but if you have a vet (animal doctor) around I would try to get her looked at by the animal doctor.

I know of one vet that specializes in small animals.

Sempati Veterniary Clinic, Konya, Turkey   Phone: +90 (332)-233-43-83

Try to get her in to see an animal doctor.  If that is not possible, try not to let her do too much the next couple weeks.  the leg will heal but probably not perfectly without a vet to fix it.  Do not worry she will adapt and still be a happy rabbit.  They can handle living with disabilities that people would get depressed about.  They don't get depressed thinking about what they no longer have.

It would be helpful to pray for her healing and that she doesn't get sick from it. I will add her to my prayers.

Just be very careful with her from now on. Rabbits have lighter bones than dogs and cats.  Treat them with the same care as you would a small infant.

Please if possible get her to a good vet.  The one I listed in Konya deals with small animals like rabbits.  If you cannot get there, you can always call them and see if they know a small animal vet that is closer to you.
