Bunny Nibbled A House Plant..

Question
My young bunny Hades managed to reach the my houseplant, a Heartleaf Philodendron long enough to take a nibble out of it, before i was able to stop him. I have read that this plant is toxic to bunnies, he only had the smallest bite, but should I be worried? and what should I do?

Answer
Hi Delilah,

The bunny should be taken to a rabbit savvy vet right away for supportive care.  I am not sure when you sent this question but if the bunny is still alive please take him right away.

Even if he only nibbled a little bit the long term toxic effects can cause all sorts of problems.  Although I am not familiar with the house plant that you are referring to I can only recommend a vet.

Most 24 hour animal hospitals have exotic vets on staff.

I do hope that even with the delay in response that your precious bunny is still okay.
