mouth full of straw

QUESTION: this girl rabbit ive got keeps on putting hay in her mouth. not little strands but bikg mouth fulls. is she building a nest? she also sometimes has lots of newspaper in her mouth too. i cant remember what day i bred them again (cause ive got a boy and a girl) but i think it was last month. whats up with her? oh and by the way it started on the 27th of november

ANSWER: Hi Katie. Your rabbit needs a nest box as soon as you can give her one. Like, NOW! If she does not have one right now, then give her one. Do not wait till tomorrow. Do it now. Make sure there are no other rabbits in the cage with her. You are going to have babies very very soon! Good Luck   Pat

QUESTION: yeah i didn't know she was pregnant. in the morning, the 29th of November 2009 i woke up and said hello to both of my rabbits. then i saw all of her fur (chest fur) on a certain spot and the fur wiggled! i shouted "my bunny has had babies!" they are 3 beautiful little kits. and do you know a site where i can order a nesting box because i don't have one.

Hi Katie. You can use a cardboard box till you get a nest box. Put some hay or staw in the box, make a hole in the straw back in the back of the box and put the babies, fur and all into the little hole. Cover them good and mama should take care of them from there. I'm glad you have your babies but for the bunnies sake try to be a bit more prepared next time OK? Congradulations!
