Q. about pellets

Question
Dear Dr. Dana,

I read I should be giving my bunny pellets twice a day (morning and evening) as he's already 4 years old. Is it ok if I feed him pellets at 7am and 7pm - I'm only asking because we've finally solved the diarrhea problem. We feed him less pellets. So I'm just asking to be sure; he is so sensitive I need extra info. :)

Thanx a lot for all your help.
Love,
Ana

Answer
Dear Ana,

We give our bunnies pellets only once a day, in the morning, and no more than about 1/4 cup per 5 lbs. (2.2kg) of bunny.  You can read an overview of healthy rabbit diet here:

I think the 2x per day pellet recommendation is for breeders who don't give their bunnies any hay or greens--just pellets.

I hope this helps.
