Question
Hi Dana,

i have a white beautiful cross breed buck with a high sexual urges. he always try to mate my pretty doe who will always run away from him and whimpers when he try to mount and bite her.
my question is why does she whimper? is that a no or yes? do you know how to reduce my buck's sexual urges so he can be friends with my doe besides neutering him because i would still wants vute little baby bunnies?

thank you for your time and knowledge,
madeline

Answer
Dear Madeline,

The whimpering is her way of saying NO.  This means she is either pregnant or having a false pregnancy.  Please read:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/breeding.html

and

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/scary.html

Baby bunnies are cute, but....in case of unexpected babies, please see:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/surpriselitter.html

Once all is settled, the male should be neutered, and the female spayed.  It is the ONLY way to stop him harassing her.  Please read:

www.rabbit.org/health/spay.html

and note that unspayed female rabbits have a very high risk of uterine cancer.  It's best for everyone's health and psychological peace that everyone is spayed/neutered. I hope you can find a good rabbit vet with the International Listings here:

Hope this helps.

Dana
