Question
My male rabbit was neutered on 18/12/09 and everything was brilliant until about two weeks ago. He was litter trained but now he is weeing and pooing wherever he likes in his cage and out. He has calmed down now and not weeing outside his cage but he wees and poos everywhere inside his cage and i just don't know what to do ?

Answer
Hi,

his hormone levels are still adjusting.  Generally 4-6 weeks are needed to stabilize at their new lower levels.

Bear with him.  It will mean a little extra cleaning for now.  He might actually even be remarking his cage as with his lower hormone levels his 'old self' may not exactly smell like his new self's scents.

One thing you can do to encourage litterpan use is to make sure hes got hay on one or both sides of the litterpan so he can munch hay while in the pan.  That way he doesn't have to move anywhere to go to the bathroom.

He'll still need a pan outside his cage usually in the spot he's always marking.
