My rabbits leg has gone lame, every thing else seems fine. please help!.

Question
My rabbits leg has randomly gone totally limp. It's for sure not broken and there are no sores or wounds and everything else about him is fine. I have no access to a local vet, we'd have to drive a really long ways. It seems a little like his lame leg is thinner and less meaty.. the limpness goes all the way to his hip. It is only one leg, not both.. Please help! Thank you!
Ps
he is a brown dutch rabbit about 4 years old

Answer
Dear Kathryn,

Please read:

But if this is only one leg, the information above might not cover what has happened to your bunny.  And although it may take a long drive to get to a good vet, now is the time to invest in that drive.  There is nothing you can do yourself if you don't know what's wrong (it could be anything from a broken bone to a spinal injury, for starters), and I cannot diagnose something like this without seeing it.

Please get your bunny to a good vet.  If there is a broken bone, it can be a nidus for infection, and this needs to be treated ASAP.  Check the listings here for a rabbit-savvy vet as close to you as possible:

I hope this helps.
