Question
It was Kinda weird a few weeks ago I was eating breakfast in the run with my rabbits and all of a sudden Floppcy the oldest, came over and sniffed my food. She sniffed the egg then the beans but when she got to the sausage she stopped and then tried to eat it.She was loving until I put her back on the grass and from then on I have always wanted to know if they eat meat!!!

Answer
Dear Anais,

Technically, rabbits are not carnivores.  But you'll find the odd bunny who just loves the taste of bacon or salty meat.  We had a bunny who would come begging for bacon (which we cook about once every two years; go figure how he knew!), and I know a vet whose bunny would actually dive into her office trash can to retrieve the remains of a turkey sandwich.

I think the bunnies just like the salty taste more than the actual meat.  It's not really a good treat for them, but if they really go nuts for it, you can give a tiny bit occasionally as a very rare treat.

Hope this helps.
