Question
I have a family of mini lop rabbits, they live together despite some people's views, the mama has had 3 litters and the last litter we couldn't find home's for so we kept them, now the father and one of the son's has passed away. The mama and two of her son's still live together, they have not tried to reproduce, they don't fight, they have a big cage but the mama and one of her son's have lost all of their fur. They don't eat anything fancy, just rabbit pellet's, hay and every once in a while they get fruits and vegetable's. They don't have any flaking or sore spots, they just look like they lost all their fur and it is not coming back. I'm worried because the other little guy is fine. He's plump and he is not balding at all, his fur is soft and fluffy. What could be wrong with the other two?

Answer
Dear Courtney,

This is obviously not normal, and the bunnies need the attention of a good rabbit vet:

who can diagnose and treat the problem.  It is sometimes the case that one member of a family like this has a stronger immune system, or is the dominant rabbit and under less stress. This one would not show signs of illness as readily as the others.

To learn more about the causes and treatments of abnormal fur loss in rabbits, please read:

I hope this will help you know what questions to ask the vet, and get them the treatment they need.

Also would be wise to schedule spay/neuter for all:

Good luck,

Dana
