Male and female bonding and neutering

Question
I am looking to buy a second rabbit. I understand that a male and female would get on better. Is it ok to have a spayed male and an un-spayed female?

Answer
You mean a castrated male and unspayed female....

Buck's and doe's are more likely to get on but the female will most of the time be hormonal and territorial if unspayed so it advisable to have her done. This is due to her breeding instinct. It is also recommended to have the doe spayed due to womb cancer later on in life. I have seen this happen to unspayed does and it is heartbreaking to watch them suddenly go down hill.

Another thing with pairing a buck and a doe is making sure their temperaments in general are compatible. rabbits can fight due to a general dislike of a temperament. For instance 2 rabbits that show dominance will certainly fight. It is better to get a laid back buck than a dominant one.

It is also a must to make sure the rabbits are introduced on neutral territory, not in the hutch.
