Question
Hi there
I wanted to ask is there any way to neuter and spay rabbits? I have two rabbits and i don't want their babies anymore because they given birth to 4 babies and they are given to others by my parents and the female rabbit had been sad for some days. Now i have to keep them togther and the vet said that there are only two ways. Don't keep them together or the injection. However, the injection has a harm that the female rabbit's fur will fall . And it won't come back ever. And i don't want to keep them separate anymore. What should i do? Please tell?

Answer
Hi,

good rabbit vets can neuter (males) and spay females.  You need to find a vet that is a good rabbit vet, one that regularly treats and has experience with rabbits.  Not all do as rabbits are still considered 'exotics'.

I would start looking here:

www.rabbit.org/vets/vets.html

to find a House Rabbit Society recommended vet near you.  They have links to international rabbit vet listings on this page if you are not in the USA.

The vet should give you both post-op antibiotics to prevent infection, and pain meds for 3-5 days - metacam is the pain med of choice.
