Question
my baby rabbits are two and a half weeks old. we had to take them away from there mother, because the mother would not feed or want anything to do with them. my question is when do baby rabbits start to eat solid food and drink water? i also would like to know if albino twins are rare? would love to know your advice!
thank you! your friend cynthia langley.

Answer
Dear Cynthia,

I hope this article will help you with feeding and weaning the babies:

The babies should start to nibble pellets and hay around 2-3 weeks of age, and you should let them experiment and sample.  This is a critical time for the GI tract, as it will be establishing a microorganism flora, and you might want to give them an immune boost by giving them colostrum in their formula.  This is available at most good health food stores, and instructions are included in the article above.

If you see any sign of runny stool or lethargy in the babies, it's an emergency.  Contact a rabbit vet here:

I hope this helps.
