Question
We bought a rabbit a couple weeks ago and unfortunatly we did not knw that she was pregnant. We keep her in an outside pen and four of the babies fell through the wire on the bottem of the cage. We immediatly put gloves on and built her a nest ffrom a box and put some hay and a blanket in her cage. We then put the babies in the "nest". We did this about two hours ago and she is still breathing very hard and she is also not being responsive to the babies. We she eventually care for the babies, or do we need to intervene? We were completely unprepared for this and we think she had them anytime from last night till this afternoon. Any knind of information willl help.  Thank you :)

Answer
Dear Lisa,

I was out of town with limited internet access, so didn't get this until now.  Also please note that you didn't put "urgent" in your subject line, so I had no way to know this was potentially serious.

How is the bunny now?  Please see:

and

for help if she is not feeding the babies well enough.

You can find a good rabbit vet here:

and learn all you need to know about the care of your bunny here:

I hope this "trial by fire" works out fine, and that everyone will be well and healthy.
