agonal phase?

My sweet bunny died this afternoon in my arms. She was almost 12 years old. Before she died, she seemed to be 'chomping' rhythmically with her front teeth, had a few brief spasms, screamed, and threw herself across my body and died. I know it's a normal thing, but what I want to know is... was it painful for her? I can't get it out of my mind.

hi Julie, at 12 she ws a very old rabbit and not many live to this age.
i don't think she will have suffered but I suspect it was a stroke that caused it.
stokes are very common in rabbits.
you did well to have her for 12 years so I congratulate you.
