Female rabbit weeing behaviour

Question
hi,
I have a female rabbit who is now 6 months old, she first came too us at 10 weeks. She instantly became a house rabbit and became used to using a litter tray from day one. Although from the age of 3 to 4 months old she began urinating and leaving droppings on the sofa and urinates while sat on my mum at certain times of the month.
Do you think it's to do with hormones? or/and the fact she thinks shes the boss?
will this behaviour stop in time? we are going to get her spayed also, will spaying her stop it also?

Thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Holly,

It could be hormones and that she is marking her area.  It could also be that she has an infection if this behavior is out of the normal for her.  When you take her in to her exam prior to her spay make sure they do a urine sample.  Truthfully she sounds like she is being hormonal which will definitely help once she is spayed.

Good luck

Pam
