removing bandage from bunnys foot

Question
my 10 year old bunny has a bandage on his left front paw.  he had  stitches where a growth fell off.  It's not a cast, just a bandage.  I thought i could just just unwrap it, but i can't find the beginning.  Should I try using blunt scissors?  Should I get it wet?

Answer
Hi Pat,

I am taking a guess that it is vet wrap?  Take a small pair of scissors and snip out a piece on the foot end.  Once you get started you should be able to slowly cut it off without hurting him.  When you make the cut actually turn the scissors so they are facing sideways.  This will put the flat part of the scissors against his skin rather than the sharp part.  Once you get through the first layer you should be able to peel the rest off.

Honestly if you don't feel comfortable I would take him back to the vet that put the bandage on.  I don't know of any vet that would charge to take a bandage off that they put on.

Good luck

Pam
