Stomach worms and skinny rabbit

Question
Hi,
One day my rabbit, Shooni, didn't eat anything. I went to a vet and he said that he is suffering from fever and stomach worms. He gave him injection for fever and said that worms would be taken care of later. But I couldn't go there again. Is there anything I can do for him at home?
Second problem is a internal injury in his right leg. He hop while walking and avoid to step on with right back limb. The vet said that I should make his leg exercise like physiotherapy but Shooni just don't allow anyone to touch that leg and went away hopping.
Please, reply as soon as possible.
Regards,
Syeda

Answer
Dear Syeda,

Please do return to the vet to have Shooni treated for the parasites.  They are interfering with his health, and will make recovery from any other illness more difficult.

If Shooni is not using the back leg at all, nor putting *any* weight on it, then it might be broken.  The vet may need to take radiographs (x rays) of the affected area to see if there is a bone injury that needs to be stabilized so it can heal.  If Shooni is using the leg at all, it might just be a soft tissue injury.  But if the leg looks as if it is hanging abnormally, or if he is completely unable to use it, the problem may be more serious.

In short, there is nothing you can effectively do at home for conditions like this, and trying could just make things worse.  Please get Shooni back to the vet for proper treatment.

I hope this helps.
