Can rabbits survive in heat?

Question
I have 2 holland lop rabbits. One is a female and one is a male. They both live outside year round. The past few days it's been about 80 degrees and they have done fine, I will give them frozen waterbottles to lay on. Today there is a heat advisory. It's supposed to be about 100 degrees outside. Can my rabbits survive in that heat if I give them frozen waterbottles? I don't know if I should bring them into my house cause i have air conditioning in here and it might be a big difference for their bodies.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Kylie! If there is any way to bring them in the house for a while, please do. We have 7 of my daughters best show rabbits indoors right now because of heat. The frozen bottles for them to lay on is wonderful, we do the same thing for ours! If you cannot bring them in, you can also put ice chips in their water several times a day, and hook up a fan to circulate air for them. I wish you luck, and I am glad you are concerned about the heat. You can also mist their ears with room temperature water. Watch for signs of heat distress: excessive wetness around mouth and nose, head thrown back. If this happens, dunk them in a vat of water. NOT cold, just tepid. They won't like it, but it can save their lives. Good luck!
