Mother Rabbit

Question
Our rabbit had 8 babies this morning, she is a vary good mother so far she has made a nest for the babies and keeps watch over them, but one of the babies she has moved to the other side of the cage. It's by itself, it is alive and she has covered it up with some hay. Should we put the baby back with the others? She has moved next to it a couple of times like she might be checking on the baby, but we are worried it will die b/c it has nothing to keep it warm.

Answer
Hi Kristen,

Yes you need to pick the baby up and put it back with the others.  They should really have a nest box so that they can't crawl away.  If you don't have a regular nest box you can use a plastic shoe box, like the kind you can buy at Wal-Mart.  Poke a couple holes in the bottom for drainage and put all the nesting materials in there.

Good luck with the babies.
