Pink eye

Question
Hi my rabbit had a litter of three bunnies and I think one of them has developed pink eye. Both eyes are puffy and some sort of white discharge is causing the fur around its eye to clump together. I've tried trimming the fur around its eye and washing it daily with water and a saline solution. None of the other rabbits have developed it however. I havent been able to seperate it as it is not weaned (it's only 4 weeks old) and I was wondering if I should

Answer
This is a common occurrence in young rabbits called "nest box eye".  Make sure to clean all of the old bedding out of the nest box (they no longer need mother's fur to keep warm at their age) and replace with clean pine shavings or hay (or whatever material you use).  Pick up a medication called Terramycin Opthalmic Ointment from your local farm supply store or online, it's an ointment and you'll just squeeze a small amount in each eye 2 times a day for a week.  That should take care of the problem!  Best wishes!
