Question
dear dustin, ive had a grey 4 about 4 years and i got it when it was about 1 year old. its had a alliuminium ring on its foot & its never been a problem & its always been free (loose).. just recently it looks as if its gone tight. the bird is settled & its friendly & funny, it talks all the time & we always let it out but we have never been able to stroke it or touch it. but it will go on your arm.ive tried to get a closer look at it but it wont let me anywhere near it. ive have phoned the vets to see if they will come out & get it taken off but they tell me to bring it in.there is no way i can get into a box. it just goes hysterical & the noise it makes is unbearable. it wont go anywhere near me now & i dont know what to do. the vets have said they will come out & get it but have to take it back & knock it out with a needle then bring it back. i cant do this, is there any other way?

Answer
hello,
most birds don't let people touch there legs. The band that is on the birds leg the numbers on the band is how to identify the bird if he gets lost the breeder that hatched the bird put it on. If its not to tight and not turning the birds leg a different color try not to get it taken off. All my birds have the leg bands. Now if you do have it taken off save the band. If you decide you want it took off you will need to get a thick towel and throw it over the bird and then grab the towel with the bird in it and put it and the bird in a carrier or something and bring the bird to the vet. He will make noise but don't worry after the vet takes the band off have them put the bird back in the carrier and when you get home just open the carrier near the cage and he will come out.
hope this helped if you have any more ?S just ask.
