mice colonies

hi i want to start a small mice colony with just 1 male and 2 females. how much would that stink. I've heard that colonies smell really bad and would i have to make a whole room for them or what?

Well let me first tell you that it will grow to be enormous before you know it. I started with the same amount and in one summer, beginning in May, had 106 mice total. It was a every other day cleaning job. They will smell a lot because of the ammonia in the urine. You will want a cage that has small holes because once the babies start to wonder they can squeeze through regular cage wiring. Just remember to separate the male and female if you dont want to have more and more babies. You can go from three...then in one month 27....and each month the mom can have 12 in 21 days. Each can breed by the time they are 5 weeks old.
