Question
QUESTION: well, i bought a female mouse from the pet store, my first ever mouse named snowdrop, a week later she gave birth (thanks pet store -.-) its been 2 weeks sinse the little cherubs wer born and i love them so much, but all my baby mice seem to look like girls and they have very smelly coats? how can i determin how to sex them because i know the genitals and anus are closer on a female and further apart on a male but they all seem close, wich seems odd to have 9 baby girls, and how do i stop them from smelling, maybe its a baby thing? i dont know thank you :)

ANSWER: I use pet wipes on my mice. The ones they use for cats that hate water work very well. The babies shouldn't smell even if they are boys but maybe the cage or their nest is dirty? I know some people say not to disturb the nest but by this age you can clean out the entire cage, nest and all. It's quite possible that your mice may all be girls but by four weeks check the genitalia again, it becomes more obvious and remember to separate males and females.

QUESTION: yea i clean there cage every few days though, i dno what to do :/, i dont have baby wipes, is it ok to put them in a bath with a dr of shampoo? :/

Answer
Totally, try to choose a mild shampoo though. Beware though, they poop and pee all over the place when you get them wet, some more than others. Don't fill the sink with water, instead hold the mouse in your hand and run the water gently over it. Shampoo him gently then rinse him. Have a towel handy to dry him with as much as you can and then set him in a box or bowl lined with a towel away from any drafts until he's completely dry and then return him to his cage.
