Question
QUESTION: Hello I just bought a hedgehog and i was wondering if I could give it fruits or veggies? thanks

ANSWER: Yes, you can give your hedgehog fruits and vegetables, but you should give them in moderation. Hedgehogs are insectavors, so your hedgie would probably prefer a mealworm or a silkworm as a treat, but you can give a small piece of fruit or vegetable. Don't give too many treats or too large of a piece since it can upset your hedgies stomach. A weekly mealworm or silkworm would be amazing to your hedgie. You can get cans of them in the reptile aisle. You can also get live mealworms, but not all hedgehogs are happy to recieve the wiggling worm.

QUESTION: ok! what kinds of fruits or veggies? thank you

Answer
In the wild, hedgehogs would be eating bugs, not fruits or vegetable. You could give a bit of peeled apple or peeled grape, but only tiny pieces. Again, you hedgehog would be happier with a mealworm or silkworm treat, not fruits and vegetables which have high amounts of sugar.
